Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Michelle Ule Quinton Sommerfield and Ruth Berger in Eva Ibbotson's The Morning Gift. I love their wit, panache, brilliance, blind spots and desires to do good in a challenging WWII story.

I reread it all the time when I don't have anything else to entertain me.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Michelle Ule I keep writing; even if it isn't very good, I keep typing in the words. You put in enough hours, something will turn up.

Or, I give it up and take a walk, read a book, spend time with my family. Sometimes you need to clear you head and let "the boys in the basement," do their magic. http://michelleule.com/2012/02/17/fin...

Michelle Ule I'm editing my WWI novel and preparing to write a summer novella called The Sunbonnet Bride which will release a year from now.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Michelle Ule An editor called my agent looking for a writer who could write a WWI romance that started the day the war began and ended the day the war did (November 11, 1918.) As we talked about the absurdity of a WWI romance, I remembered one hopeful story from the war, and have written a novel around that one good thing that came.
