Thanks for your interest in my writing. I'm answering this for my self-published books first and the order I'm recommending is the order I published them in, which keeps series books in order:
-- against all enemies series --
1. Voice in the Wilderness
2. Voice of Freedom
3. Chasing Freedom
--- witness protection series ---
4. No Safe Place
5. No True Justice
6. No Turning Back
------ stand alone --
7. The Janus Journals
8. Virtuality
9. Slanted
--- riven republic series ---
10. Riven
11 coming soon: Resisting
The next 4 are a traditionally published 4-book series
here is the proper order, since the publisher did not provide
that info on the covers:
-- pure genius series --
1. Hide and Seek
2. On the Pineapple Express
3. Moon over Maalaea Bay
4. Triple Threat
Hope you enjoy the stories. The Pure Genius Series contains my first 4 novels. The writing seems to me to improve quite a bit over the series.

I don't tell horror stories whether two sentences or novel-length.

If I'm not working hard on a writing project, looking at a blank page usually gets me inspired. There are supposed to be words on that page, words that are part of a story, an exciting story, one where lives are at risk, maybe the entire nation is in danger and -- well, you get the picture. I suppose that's how it is for all writers.

There are few limits other than our imagination. It's a bit like playing God, and that is why we must write responsibly. Our words can impact lives. We must make sure the impact of our words is positive.

I'm currently finishing my 8th novel, a political thriller. It's a bit unusual for a thriller in that it's equally character-driven and plot-driven. I'll have more to say about this story in a few weeks.

The plot for my most recent story came from news articles I collected over the past 2 or 3 years. But, for those taking this approach, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First, you can't rely only on mainstream news networks. You'll get their spin but not the real story. You've got to dig deeper. Find sources you trust to tell you the truth. Second, current events are usually dated. When their significance runs out, so does the interest in your story. So, either publish fast or choose a story problem that possesses some inherent longevity.

To aspiring novelists, my advice is to learn the craft of fiction sufficiently to write a good story, with well-developed characters, before you write that first novel. Before writing my first novel, I had a lot of interesting experiences which contributed to an intriguing plot. I wrote most of the first draft in about a week, sitting on the banks of Lake Havasu. My masterpiece required several fiction-writing classes, 2 rounds of critiques, and 2 major rewrites spread over 2 years before it won a publishing contract. I had jumped the gun. Make an effort to learn the craft before you write 90 thousand words. That's a lot less effort than multiple rewrites of a poorly crafted story.

I'm not sure I have "classical" writer's block, if a classical form of this hindrance really exists. When I want to write, but can't, it's always because my mind or body is fatigued. If I determine it's my mind, I do something physical--go for a 3-mile walk, then make a strong latte. If it's my body, I take a nap, then make a strong latte. Once I'm no longer fatigued, the words start flowing.
