I put epic/emotional music on, close my eyes (or work out), and slide into the shoes of my main character. I sit with my characters, face their problems, and as I know the outcome, figure out what they have to do/think/feel to get them there.

Best thing? Seeing the movie in your head become words on a document and then a book in your hands and knowing someone else might be able to live in your world even for just a bit.

If you haven't started - Start. It's amazing what happens when you write just one sentence and let your brain take over.
If you have started - Spend more time with your characters; be them, and live their situations in your mind. Play music that fits the situation they're in. Let their emotions, thoughts, passions, and character come through in their dialogue.

I am currently working on two books - the second in the Tria Prima Series (The Soul of a Champion) and another, a Comedy Romance that's a parody of all the stereotypes in fantasy romance.

Combination of things, actually. My best friend of 16 years passed away unexpectedly; he was a librarian and author himself, and he would always listen to my random ideas and fantasies, urging me to put them to paper but I always told him I would be terrible at it. Then when he passed, I was telling my other best friend of my idea and wished I could tell him that I was tired of romances never going how I want and she said, "Well then, write it." It was history from that point on.

I have always had an insanely overactive imagination and had just finished watching Full Metal Alchemist and was reading the Anita Blake series. I loved the real history of alchemy so much and adored the idea of a grumpy heroine that I would listen to epic music and daydream of different scenarios. Thus, Melisandre Von Boden was born.
