Tracey Shors Don't get discouraged. Your first book is a learning process. I know it's true but have to keep reminding myself so that I can get the nerve to use what I learned to write another book.
Tracey Shors For me, it is the "thinking" that goes on before the actual writing. I like the process of coming up with an idea and then molding and remolding and changing it over time. It is stressful and rather nerve-wracking -- but enjoyable nonetheless!
Tracey Shors My research program is focused on trauma in women and how it changes the brain. Initially, I was going to write just about that. But it ended up being a bit more general.
Tracey Shors I am currently thinking about writing a new book -- this one will not be about trauma but more focused on the brain itself. How it changes with learning and experience. I did a lot of work on this topic and would be excited to share what I know with others who might be interested.
Tracey Shors I just try to let it pass. Somedays I don't feel especially inspired to write because I may not have anything to say. I find those are the days that my brain is working on something in the background, almost unconsciously. This is also true for my life as a scientist. The best ideas come when I am not really doing anything in particular.
