Anne Wan Having published the second children's book (age 7-9) in the 'Secrets of the Snow Globe' series last autumn, I am currently writing book 3! At present, I am about halfway through. As the world inside the snow globe is on the brink of destruction, hopefully, this will be a fitting climax to complete the series!
Anne Wan I don't tend to experience writer's block when I am writing because I like to plan my stories in advance. When I reach the writing stage, I know exactly where I am heading. Writer's block can happen when planning and I am developing a new plot. That's the time when I get up and start household chores to switch my brain to something else! I find that ideas come together better after a short break. Also, I find it invaluable to bounce ideas off someone else, usually my husband (bless him!).
Anne Wan I am often inspired to write by funny things that my boys do or say. For example, my middle son decided to push a pea up his nose one tea-time, just to see if it would fit! I found myself saying, 'It's a good job the Queen doesn't have to watch you eat!' and thought 'Ha ha!' that would be a great theme for a picture book.
Anne Wan I was inspired to write the 'Secrets of the Snow Globe' series while Christmas shopping. I picked up a snow globe which had a musical box in the base. As I wound the key and listened to the music play, I imagined the music being stolen and pictured two children shrinking into the snow globe to retrieve it.
