Sharing my stories with kids and families is the absolute best part of being a writer. I adore reading my stories aloud, and sharing my love of books with enthusiastic young audiences. It's a true joy.

I always have a handful of manuscripts on the go at any time. I have a short attention span, and I find it helpful to be able to bounce from one story to another. I'm currently working on a story about an anxious little girl who learns to live with, rather than overcome, her anxiety - based on my own lived experience with anxiety.

Yes, it's been said a million times before, but that doesn't make it any less true. The more you read, the better a writer you'll become. I write picture books, so I read heaps of picture books. I figure out what elements I like, which styles appeal to me, and what gaps there are in the market that I might be able to fill. Reading other writers' works helps me find my voice.

The children in my toddler and preschool storytimes absolutely love everything to do with animals, and they have the most wonderfully vivid imaginations, so I decided to write a story that would encourage them to pretend that they are all sorts of different animals!

I'm very fortunate in that I get to work with children, who are always inspiring me with their imaginations and their enthusiasm!
