Ken Lenz For me and the books I write, the “best thing” is that I bring glory to God and help readers to understand God’s Word, God’s will, and God’s ways.
That is also my greatest joy: to God be the glory.
Ken Lenz This is an excellent question, and in my case each of my books has been written based on a significant need for more to be expressed on a particular topic. My books are on matters related to the Christian faith and biblical truths––particularly on topics that have generated controversy. For example, my first book was written on the topic of baptism, and includes the subject matter of both water baptism and the baptism in the Spirit (so as to draw a distinction between those two kinds of baptism). That book is both comprehensive and biblical in its focus (as expressed in its subtitle “As Taught in the Scriptures”). It was based on a doctoral dissertation I had done within a Ph.D. program, though written to be easily understood and received by any adult or teenaged reader.

The research and writing of that first book spun off into the completion of two other (shorter) books, including a book on the “baptism” that Christ experienced on the cross (entitled God’s Son “Forsaken,” His Sacrifice “Finished!” ) and a book entitled Confession and Communion. All three of those books are available in print (both hardcover and softcover) and as e-books through Xlibris publishing (see www.KenLenz.com). The expanded 195,000-word book, Water Baptism and Spirit Baptism: Expanded Edition, is available only as an e-book distributed by Smashwords (go to https://www.smashwords.com/books/view... ).
Ken Lenz In addition to the “trilogy” of books that were published though Xlibris (as noted in the previous answer, seen above), I was encouraged to publish a thesis paper I wrote when completing a Ph.D. program. That degree included an emphasis in Eastern Orthodox Church history and liturgy, and my thesis paper then became an e-book entitled:
The Orthodox Church: An Evangelical Perspective
Most recently, I published an e-book entitled:
Lordship Salvation: An Evangelical Perspective

In addition, other e-books were also made available, including:
Water Baptism and Spirit Baptism: Expanded Edition
Branches of the Vine: A Fresh Look at John 15
The Bread of Life: A Consistent Sense of John 6
Christ the “I Am” (soon to be available also in Hindi, Spanish, and French).

Ken Lenz The three goals I have posted in my home office are for my writings to be “clear, concise, and convincing.” I should also like to assure any reader that my research and writings are bathed in prayer and meditation on God’s Word, relying on the Holy Spirit’s illumination of the inspired Word. My objective is always to arrive at what I call the “A B C’s of interpretation”: being accurate, biblical, and consistent.

Ultimately, my goal in offering the books I’ve written is to make an impact in the understanding and receiving of God’s Word––first in the lives of the reader, and then beyond that, in the Christian community, which I have served as a pastor, teacher, and chaplain.
Ken Lenz The idea for my most recent book came from a concern that the Christian “gospel” be offered in a most biblical fashion. In my reading and research on the matter it became clear that there are extreme positions being promoted even within Evangelicalism, which has caused a division. I firmly believe more was needed to be expressed. An associate publisher for a notable Christian publishing house wrote the following critique:
“I very much believe that you cover some critical ground here and I especially appreciate your winsome determination to help all parties in this conversation to have common language and starting points. You are careful, nuanced, and a solid writer. I believe this contribution and perspective is a helpful one.”

Therefore, the e-book entitled Lordship Salvation: An Evangelical Perspective, is being offered through various e-book vendors, including Smashwords (go to https://www.smashwords.com/books/view... ).
Ken Lenz Due to the interest of readers, the e-book entitled Christ the “I Am” is being published so as to be available both in print and as an e-book through Xlibris. It is also being translated into Hindi, Spanish, and French––soon to be offered as e-books (go to https://www.smashwords.com/books/byse... )
Ken Lenz My advice for aspiring writers is to write based on your passion and what you believe should be expressed. Write of your own experience and/or understanding. For example, each of my books was written as I sensed a need for a better understanding and explanation of God’s Word. The following steps outline my own writing process:
1. Recognizing an issue that needs to be addressed.
2. Researching the topics related to the issue and of various positions held.
3. Writing in a way that clarifies the issue and supports a most accurate position.
