There's no easy solution. But I know this: If you stare at a blank page until you have something perfect to say, you'll be staring forever. Just start writing. Maybe you'll write two or three sentences, or paragraphs, or pages that you later throw away, but somewhere in there, you'll usually find a way out. Follow that path where it leads, and good stuff will happen.

It's kind of like having sex when you're married and have young kids in the house. If you always wait for inspiration, you won't do it nearly as often as you'd like. You have to make it part of your schedule. To get inspired to write, I like to I like to clear my mind by getting away from my email and social media and TV and all the other intrusions. All it takes is 15 minutes by myself doing laundry or unloading the dishwasher, or maybe mowing the lawn or wandering in the yard. This keeps the body busy and lets the mind wander in silence. Usually it's enough to give me the head space to get creative.
