I don't try to force a thought. If I feel blocked, I acknowledge that I'm stalled and turn my attention to other things. Usually the block will work itself out in my subconscious and the next day I can return to my story.

In the Shadow is the real life, fictionalized account of Bob Younger, the youngest of the Younger Brothers. Bob's story is drawn from my 30+ years of research into the lives and times of the Youngers. I wanted to tell their story focusing on Bob, the brother who stood "in the shadow" of his older brothers as he experienced a life he didn't choose.
