My books are all about love, but isn't there mystery in the human heart? Will she love me back? Will he be a great kisser? Can we make it last? I have experienced all of these moments in my life and I use them as elements in my novels. Every romance novel must answer can this couple overcome the obstacles I throw in their way to reach their happily ever after? I ask myself that about my own love life all the time

I have a deadline approaching rapidly for completing and publishing my next book. I have writer's block.

Sadly, I didn't see this before summer (shame on me) but I am prepared to share my holiday reading list instead:
Virgil Wander by Leif Enger
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
Mr. Mayfair by Louise Bay
Rough Sketch by Kate Canterbary
The Devil: Devil's Playground Duet by Ashley Jade

I would travel to merry old England because so many of my favorite stories are set in the times of Queen Elizebeth I, Victoria or even Henry VIII. I would get a sense of the atmosphere for myself instead of from books and try life above and below stairs. Then I would return to this world, grateful for amenities like medicine, microwaves, and air-conditioning while I wrote period piece novels.

Hi Colleen,
First, thank you for taking the time to let me know you enjoyed "Studmuffin". Every author loves feedback like this and I am no exception. I did write one other short story that was available free to readers of my blog early in 2018, "Our Love is Here to Stay." It was a time travel romance, not as steamy as "Studmuffin" but I enjoyed writing it. You can find the first installment at https://www.madisonmichael.net/new-se... or you can purchase it on Amazon.com. You might enjoy my novels as well, steamy contemporary romance novels with complex characters. While the characters overlap, each book can stand alone. There are two series, The Beguiling Bachelor Series and the B&B Billionaire Series. If you like a strong female, I think you will really enjoy the Beguiling Bachelor series.

(view spoiler)[I am an experienced copy editor and proofreader. I am currently reading Bedazzled. I really like it but it has speed bumps, places where grammar and other niggling mistakes jump out at me. I hope you have an editor.

Hi Carol,
I am glad to hear that you are enjoying Bedazzled. It was the first novel I ever wrote and someday I hope to go back and do some revisions, but I am building a series of books so that my wonderful fans can keep reading Madison Michael books. Perhaps in 2019. I do have an editor, but we were both beginners when Bedazzled was written. I believe we both get better with time. If you want to pitch yourself as a future editor, please contact me at maddy@madisonmichael.net.
I hope you won't let the 'speed bumps' keep you from finishing the Beguiling Bachelor series.

It is hard to name just one favorite but I really love Rhett Butler and Scarlet Ohara. It is hard to beat their fiery chemistry and gut-wrenching love. They may not have good timing but their desire and true love for one another cannot be denied.
I love my own couple, Randall and Sloane in "Beholden" and tried to have them demonstrate much of that same push-pull that I loved in "Gone with the Wind".

Thanks for this question.
I am inspired by everyone and everything around me. I observe, I listen, and I see a story in someone I meet, somewhere I go, everything around me. Then I add my imagination and hope you like where the combination of the two take me.
This week, I was waiting on an 'L' platform while changing trains. It was slightly drizzly, slightly foggy. Being the start of spring, trees on the street below the platform were just beginning to bloom in a glorious riot of pink against a dull red background of brownstone buildings. I took a picture, because it just felt to me like the setting for a story. Maybe not right away, but someday soon, that scene will end up in a novel.
Everything is inspiration. Everything.

My current books "Beholden" and "Bedeviled" both were inspired by the characters I introduce in "Bedazzled". I liked writing about Wyatt and his friends in "Bedazzled" and I thought perhaps you might like reading about them as much as I liked writing about them.

Thanks for your question.
Currently, i am working on three projects. First, I am working on all the self-publishing requirements to add a paperback version of "Bedazzled" to the already-available eBook.
Then, I am editing the next book in "The Beguiing Bachelor" series, "Beholden", so that I can release it later this summer.
Last, because I don't ever like to be away from the writing itself, I have started plots and timelines for my next book in the BB series, "Bedeviled". I like these characters a lot and am having great fun with them.

I wanted to write my whole life but I instead I followed traditional routes in business so that I could earn a living. This route may not be for everyone, but it has afforded me a cushion now that I am writing so that I am able to write what I want to write without worrying as much about the commercial success of my work. I like that.
But I am sad that I waited this long to start too.
So my advice, stay tapped into your creative side no matter what you do for a living. Don't lose it. Don't lose sight of it. Find a way to write something, a journal, an article, a blog, short stories. Stay connected to yourself as a writer.

Thanks for your question.
I love getting involved with my characters, getting to know them as intimately as my family and friends, watching them come alive. Once I do that, I love sharing my characters and their stories with my fans. I enjoy seeing their reactions to the characters I have created and the things they do in my novels.
And, of course, the happy endings. I love writing a happy ending. Life is tough, but I get to escape for a little while into luxury, travel, friendships and steamy romances. Then I get to bring my fans with me for the journey. What could be better?

Thanks for your questions, it's a good one.
So far, writer's block has not plagued me for more than a day or so, but I have a routine, a commitment, to write whether I want to or not. I write something, anything, in the hours I promise myself I will write. Usually, just starting the writing process will get my creative juices flowing again.
