I'm catching up... 'The Lost Man' Jane Harper, Sarah Bailey's 'The Dark Lake,' Elena Ferrante's 'the Lying Life of Adults, Sally Hepworth's 'the Mother-in-law' Delia Owens's 'Where the Crawdads Sing' and right now I'm finishing Cheryl Strayed 'Tiny Beautiful Things.' There are others I'll add soon, like Rachel Hawkins The Wife Upstairs,' plus I've just finish 'Breath by James Nestor (non fiction).

I don't really get writer's block. But if I'm stuck somehow. I keep reading. I check that I am keen enough on the story. I check the plot to see if its really working to my satisfaction. Or sometimes just going for a long walk is enough to refresh. I have a bad habit of sitting too long. So I force myself to take a break, that's essential I find.

Taking a story through to completion takes a lot of hours. As best I can, I make sure that I feel strongly enough about the the story. And that generally does the trick.

What is a woman's life? This was a question I asked myself when I was first thinking about how the story might work. The answer was it can be what you choose. I am fascinated by the how lives from the past even 100 years ago can resonate in ours today. I chose a local setting, an inherited piano, a romance writer and three generations of woman who didn't know each other to carry off what I hope is a mystery romance with a kick ending.

Presently I'm working on a story about a young woman who went missing off a film set and was never seen again. Her daughter, a tiny child at the time of her mother's disappearance is now in her thirties. She's looking for answers. I'm loving it!
