Judith Sure, there are ambition-driven women (just like men!) but in this story Julia was portrayed as too close & devoted to her family to just walk away. It didn't feel authentic to me...she could have still had her career in NY without that.

Kim Lurie I think when people are in trauma, their prominent traits get more pronounced - to be in protection mode. She had a a profound desire to control, to be in charge and be independent. That kicks it off and once one is in the new situation, it's hard to get out. I thought that her not knowing any of her husband's childhood and motivations was a little more hard to believe, but with that comes this.

Judith Agree, she never really knew William, just wanted to control him & couldn't, so just turned her back on everyone!
