So, why did the stars suddenly go out on an October night? Loving. This. Book. I've had it on my wishlist for years. Thought I'd buy myself some cheap something when making a necessary large purchase from amazon.com. I panicked when this wishlist item had no price listed anymore but was pleased to find it for about $2 as a Kindle book. Did I mention that I'm loving this book?

Okay. I could kick myself. "Best book I've read since Julian Comstock," I said to someone. Somehow, I didn't manage to register that this is by the same author. I must be really going loopy these days.

This is fast becoming an all-time favorite book. I'd love to see it made into a mini-series. Please, Someone make this into a mini-series.

The author mentions in passing some other books that sound interesting. Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy for one and The Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs for another. Apparently, Disney's making a movie of the Princess of Mars but have renamed it John Carter. Maybe because they didn't want to mix it up with the other Disney princesses? The movie looks very, very interesting.

I don't know how I'll ever review this book without giving every little thing away. I wish someone were reading this with me so I could exclaim to them about all the little revelations and sci fi plot elements I've never encountered before. They're probably old tricks that I don't crop up in the sub genres I tend to read.
