I just read something on Dear Author that ruins Shadowflame by Dianne Sylvan for me. I enjoyed Queen of Shadows but I am no longer sure I will continue the series. See the link if you don't mind spoilers why: http://dearauthor.com/features/letter...

Ctanner OMG, I cannot believe this. I will probably read Shadowflame, but my opinion of David has plummeted.

Jen This reminds me of Rough, Raw and Ready (Rough Riders, #5) by Lorelei James. I did not like it there and I will not read it here.

No thank you. Just to think about it makes me ill.

MelissaB I wonder what the author was thinking? Seems like a cop out, trying to be cutting edge? (view spoiler)

message 5: by Jen (new)

Jen Absolutely. I 100% agree.

Sharon ✽ is an emotional book junkie ✽ omg Melissa....i cant believe that!

I completely agree with that! I was pretty shocked by the spoiler. What was the purpose of that?

One commenter I felt kinda hit the nail on the head- sex sells and to push the boundary of UF just toss that in there. It makes me very sad as I love the main couple of this series and after the trauma the heroine faced after her rape it's like a slap in the face to us readers whom loved the couple and this happened.
Very disappointed in this...*takes book off her lists*

message 9: by Ally72 (new)

Ally72 Thanks for the heads-up, Melissa...I had this in my TBR pile, but I won't now.

message 10: by MelissaB (new)

MelissaB I agree Rane! It sounds like she wanted to do something shocking but it sounds like instead she just betrayed the readers trust.

message 11: by Sammy (new)

Sammy I am so pissed right now. I love QOS and can't believe the author would do this. Totally wrecks david for me.

Yep, for me too.

Sammy I just read the excerpt and am now even more pissed. W.T.F.??

message 14: by Sammy (last edited Jun 08, 2011 06:57AM) (new)

Sammy What I don't understand is why make such a big deal about their bond in the first book, just to turn around and mock it in the second?

Sharon ✽ is an emotional book junkie ✽ i agree Sammy.....i really liked both David and Miranda. im hoping theres much more to the story.

message 16: by Sammy (new)

Sammy I guess we will have to wait and see when it comes out.

message 17: by MelissaB (new)

MelissaB I am sure there may be more to the story but there is nothing that can justify that or make it not ruin the series. Lover Eternal is the only book I have ever forgave this theme.

message 18: by Sammy (new)

Sammy I have to agree melissa. For me it's usually a deal breaker.

message 19: by Ctanner (new)

Ctanner I am really upset by this. I thought QoS was such a great story of two people coming together slowly. The author wanted us to become emotionally invested in both characters separately as well as a couple. I don't understand this turn of events. It did seem that Sylvan consciously wanted Miranda to be very independent. Is she saying that she should only rely on herself in every way? There may be some male bashing in this decision.

message 20: by new_user (new)

new_user Yeah, maybe it is for shock value and to be cutting edge, since the first book was so "romantic," from what I understand.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Does the article imply that Miranda writes it off? There's a line in it that is confusing: (view spoiler).

What does that mean? (view spoiler)

Also, totally agree re Miranda's emotional health: she's been raped, and now this? WTH?

Gr. I want to read the book and see what's going on.

message 22: by MelissaB (new)

MelissaB Moss,

Maybe you can give it a try and let us know how it's handled.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe. Looks like a downer, so won't be anytime soon.

message 24: by MelissaB (new)

MelissaB Jane,

Thanks for the info and your input. I just don't understand why the author would do this to the couple she just put together in the first book.

message 25: by new_user (new)

new_user It's TVD fanfiction?! Wow, that's really interesting... This would be the second author profiting on her fanfiction, LOL.

message 26: by Jan (new)

Jan I'm really confused how that works, creating non fan fiction out of fan fiction.

That always seems a bit wrong to me.

message 27: by new_user (new)

new_user I can't believe it either. I should get on that train, LOL.
