I love how the Jain mycelium is a temptation to the AI's. Before this they were seen as sort of Demi-gods. But now they seem to have the same weakness as the humans who made them

It seems that the Jain substructure has taken on more meaning and character. It evolves, embraces civilizations, takes what it needs, and uses them up to grow... somewhat like a plant. Then it lays dormant until a new civilization comes into contact with it and it does the same At this point the Jain mycelium could easily be symbolic for many things. Perhaps the Roman Empire, sin or greed, or what have you

Skellor passes on the opportunity to put Mr Crane out of commission, even after finding out Mr Crane has been subverting his control. The planet upon which Anderson and Tergal reside is a post-apocalyptic western world. This might be where one of the dragon spheres are. If so this would be a good setting for the final showdown

A little bit of irony perhaps, Skellor resurrecting Mr Crane. It'll probably be his undoing when Mr Crane puts his fragmented personality back together. The encounter with Cento was an amazing scene. I was glad Cento did manage to escape. Asher had great descriptions of people burning alive. I could almost feel the pain I haven't figured out what the purpose of Cormacs Gridlink turning back on is about.

Anderson, The Knight of Rondure, and the young rogue thief Tergal are on some forgotten planet. Many ages have passed and the civilization is attempting to regain their technology and rejoin humanity in the universe. Anderson and Tergal are of some sub-species of human, not yet apparent. Anderson is on a quest to kill a dragon, and suspects Tergal wants to rob him

Skellor is back. I cant help but wonder if Asher shouldn't have waited a few books before resurrecting Skellor. Not only Skellor, but apparantly Mr Crane. I really likes Mr Crane in Gridlinked, but Skellor wasnt that great of a character. Yeah, he powerful and all, but he wasn't really developed in Line of Polity. But I guess he gets developed more in this one. Despite that I do look forward to reading more
