Okay, so THAT plot development dives off the cliffs of probability and will have every physicist who encounters it snorting with mirth.

Still gonna do it. :)

Apocalyptica generally is about the loss of civilisation bringing out the worst in humanity. AAtS appears to be my reaction against that.

Estara If I wanted real physics, I'd read a physics book, anyway ^^

There's a reason I say I write science fantasy. :)

Estara ^^ - I wouldn't even be able to see any of the science. I'm happy as long as it sounds internally consistent in your world building.

Andrea Internal consistency is the primary aim.

But with both science fiction and fantasy I try to keep to known science wherever possible - just because I have dust-spewing giant starry towers which defy all known scientific principle doesn't mean I shouldn't have the correct response from the scientific community to said spewed dust.

I'm fortunate that one of my oldest friends happens to be a microbiologist, willing to be grilled about things which are more or less likely. Though, after all the questions I asked her, I ended up barely touching on the response of the scientific community (protagonist was busy NOT LOOKING).

I like to write science fantasy because then I'm not limited when I think up something cool but scientifically unlikely. This has been a fun first draft, overall. Plenty of self-indulgently silly ideas, and a few characters I find very entertaining.

Estara I certainly have enjoyed myself following along your little thoughts and teasers as you progress ^^ - never too long, but never too short to imagine about.

Andrea The status updates have been a fun diversion for me. I really like the idea of being able to look back on it and remember my progress through the drafting process. Also functions as a nice added extra for people who've read the book.

Just about finished the 'lull' chapter - which ended up very action-packed.
