Beth is starting The Whistling Season
This is a book with no story, just incidences. First this happens, then this, then this, etc. I give up.

Beth is starting The Farm
Almost done. Pretty good, but he still hasn't written a book as good as Child 44.

Beth
Beth is starting The Guest Room
Yesterday afternoon I began reading THE GUEST ROOM. My usual bedtime is 9 or 10 o'clock. But I was still reading at 1:30 a.m. I am critical of books I read and usually have to read several before I hit on a good one. This is superb.

Finally, here is a truly good book. I won this quite a while ago and wish it hadn't taken me so long to read it.

I hate this large-print edition and am looking for a regular copy of the book. This large print makes the book so huge that my shoulders ache when I try to read in bed. I may end up borrowing it from the library if I can't find a free or cheap copy. The story and the writiing are great.

Beth
Beth is reading The Happiest People in the World: A Novel
After reading a few chapters, I decided I can't stand this book. The author tries too hard to be funny in every single sentence. I give up.

Beth is on page 81 of 310 of Argo: How the CIA & Hollywood Pulled Off the Most Audacious Rescue in History
So many names it's difficult to keep track of who's who and who is where. But it's great to read history I clearly remember from what I read and heard in the news.

Beth is reading The Winter People
Unfortunately, this book is very YAish. That is, it seems to be written in the style and tone I would have preferred when I was in the eighth grade. The story may be good; I'll give it a chance.

Beth is reading Stay Close
I'm almost finished with this book. I would have finished long ago if not for my cat, who is dying.

But for that reason, I can say that this is a good book. The fact that I can read at all s a testament to how good this is.

It's taking too long to grab my attention. But I expect this to get better because this was the case with his other book that I read.

Beth is on page 50 of 384 of The Invention of Wings
So far, I don't know what all the fuss over this book is about. So far, this looks and sounds like a typical Oprah book. It's very putdownable and is written at a level more appropriate to the 7th- and 8th-grade reader than to an adult reader.

Beth
Beth is reading No Way Back
One of the few books that I'm not going to finish, as guilty as that makes me feel because I won it from sciencethrillers.com. The writing isn't adult enough, too juvenile for my taste. But worse than that is the repetition. Over and over are descriptions of what just happened. No stars; I couldn't get past page 55.
