Enjoyable so far. Premise fascinating. A bit too much of the describing of green eyes and what not. I smell a trite romance. But still enjoying.

It occurred to me these adults are the exact same age I am give or take. When I first tried to read this, they seemed so old. But now I imagine trying to reunite with the kids I used to hang out with at 11. God, that's such a long time ago.

The terrifying part with the drain. Why I'm still scared of gurgling drains.

Stephen King both loves and hates small towns. He's also adept at finding evil. And scaring the pants off people. Though I'm not terrified yet. That's good, right?

I couldn't finish this in middle school -- my mom warned me off after a dream I had. But I'm remembering more than I thought. Going to reignite my fear of gurgling plumbing all over.

I'm revisiting this book after failing to finish it in middle school. It scared the crap out of me and then I had a dream about a huge spider killing me. My mom said maybe you shouldn't finish the book. Why, is there a giant spider. She wouldn't tell me but I figured I was right and quit. I watched the miniseries later, But it wasn't the same.

A little torn about reading this or continuing. Author claims she got permission for this -- Harper Lee says she most certainly didn't. Reviews -- damned reviews -- say it's not that great and offers no real insight. But I might keep reading anyway. I just won't feel good about it.

Still can't stop reading, but most of the men are jerks in this book. Ralph was despicable and so holier than thou, pardon the joke. And Luke is awful. Why doesn't Meggie stand up for herself. He's essentially a thief from what I've read so far. Ugh.

Gripping. Vivid descriptions. Sometimes run-on sentences, though.

I had to put this down for a while bc my family was coming and it's a little serious. But I picked it back up in full force today, making me squander the last day of vacation. But it was a good squander. Very hard time putting it down. Love the Laundry Files books. Stross is in fine form with this one.

At the third book in this series, I'm bored. And annoyed. Kinda wish I could hurry up and finish. The first book, Uglies, was the most thought provoking.

Every time I read this series, it's very clear that Jack Chalker doesn't know anything about being a woman, about sexuality or being a teenager or how they talk. So every time I start the series, it's almost enough to make me put it back down again. However, once Chalker gets into territory he does know -- fantasy -- it gets better. But ugh.

More stuff unfolds. We see outside the world Tris grew up in. Now there's a ludicrous upset over genetics. Overall, I find this book a little tedious.

So why the change between narrators? Jarring and annoying considering the first two books were told from the perspective of Tris.

It's sorta meh so far. About 61% in. Tris and Tobias argue all the time and aren't believable as a couple. Maybe I'm too old for this angsty stuff. I'm also not sure I really buy the Dauntless as a faction when it comes down to it.

Not going to finish. Irritating. Juvenile. Even the author's note was juvenile.

Having a hard time getting interested in this or caring. They're heading up to Shangri-La, so maybe I won't dislike it so much. I'm going to give it a little longer, but I reserve my right to not finish it.

Not enjoying this, too far in to stop. Writing unnecessarily descriptive and flowery, just obnoxious. And I don't think much of the protagonist. Mostly it's the writing I object to, though. Throw a bunch of flowery passages in with an angry teen and shake it with some jumbled fairy mythology. Bleh.

Find myself keep going back to my annoyance of reading part of a person's review of this book in which their major objection was that it has openly gay characters. I am actively stopping myself from responding with something quite rude. I guess I have the right to not engage with thinly veiled bigots who call themselves morally conservative. Enjoying the book itself, though.

A book well worth many reads. I find it's one of my comfort reads. A book I read when I want something I know will give me pleasure and comfort.
