Pancha is reading History of Food
No! This is due back and I can't renew it and there is still so much more food history to read. I am only up to grains!

Pancha is on page 133 of 359 of City of a Thousand Dolls (Bhinian Empire, #1)
It was a little rough getting into it, but I'm glad I pushed passed it.

Pancha is reading Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital
The tension makes this feel like reading a ghost story, and moments keep coming up that make it clear that as bad as the narration makes it sound, it is not doing justice to how awful it was.

This book is really long and grim. About halfway through, and I need to take a break.

Really enjoying this book, especially after a run of books that left me meh. Wish the library had it in kindle format though.

Pancha is reading The Goblin Emperor
Maia grew up in a restrictive and abusive environment, so it's not surprising that he's reactive and rather unmotivated. But it is boring to read. I want to read about a character who rises to the occasion, rather than just sits there and lets the occasion drag him along.

The choice to use archaic grammer within a steampunkish setting is not working for me.

Pancha is reading Hiroshima Diary: The Journal of a Japanese Physician, August 6-September 30, 1945
Not quite as graphically horrifying as I recall John Hershey's Hiroshima being, but still pretty depressing (although Dr. Hachiya comes off as fairly upbeat most of the time.)

This book is wonderful! Enjoyable in itself, but even more so when taken in the context of the time it was written.

Not a fan of the corvax chapters. Really like Zephyr. Neanderthals didn't disappear from the genetic record, though.

I wonder if Tolstoy likes any of his characters. He seems to rather distain them all.
