Someone commented on the Elizabeth Hawley book that it was too confused in its structure. They should try this one.

Also - there's a dodgy whitefolk-writing-about-the-exotic-east vibe to this thing that I'm not entirely liking.

A definite first: Crying over a Radclyffe book.

In her fwd, Radclyffe ponders when is too soon to write about 9/11. Thirteen years later still feel too soon to read about it, to me. It hurts, and I knew no one personally affected. I so badly want to keep reading the story of Blair and Cameron, so well as Paula Stark and Renee Savard, but this *hurts*.

If she kills Renee I am going to be so furious. And heartbroken.

My only issue with the "gender thing" in this book is that every so often my utopian all - female cast in my head gets rudely reminded that not all the characters are female. Whereas, of course, if Leckie was using 'she' all the time I would have quit reading by now because of all the menz. Or would I, given socialisation etc?
