I'm loving this! I will definitely be recommending to everyone. Valente writes so magically and with such ease it's like reading your way through a most enchanting dream.

This book seems like it would be great fun to read to a child for a bedtime story.

This book is stunning and really fun to read. It really feels like I'm reading Alice in Wonderland. Having said that, it's so hard for me to focus because there are soooooo many characters and the logic system is such nonsense that my brain is struggling to keep track of everything.. I might have to read this when I get home. I have no clue what's going on while reading this in a coffee shop. It's too involved.

Really can't decide if I should continue this... it's whimsical levels are at ridiculous levels, which should be awesome, but it's not working for me.

'Mezi naším a vaším světem existuje víc různých cest. (...) a pak tu jsou ještě ti, co vklopýtnou dovnitř mezerou v živém plotě nebo čarovným kruhem hub nebo tornádem nebo skříní plnou zimních kabátů.' Já tu knihu miluju <3

I feel like I'm reading one of the Alice books all over again . . . except a slightly different kind of weird, and with more fairytale and less chess/poetry recitations.

Ten text je tak hrozně bohatý (jak na významy, tak po formální stránce), že mám potřebu udělat si po každé kapitole pauzu.

I'm a little put off by all the flowery language, but I'm going to keep reading for a while to see if I can get into the groove.

You know, this reminds me of a combination of Alice in Wonderland and Narnia. I am annoyed. This isn't cute.

"Those were all big words, to be sure, but as has been said, September read often, and liked it best when words did not pretend to be simple, but put in their full armor and rode out with colors flying" (51). Can you tell I love this book?

"He let her climb the chains and ride upon his back. September could not know that humans riding Marvelous Creatures of a Certain Size was also not allowed. A-Through-L knew, but for once he didn't care" (48).

So far my favorite quote is, "It is well known that reading quickens the growth of a heart like nothing else"(4).

Temperament, you'll find, is highly dependent on time of day, weather, frequency of naps, and whether one has had enough to eat.

Feels like this book is trying way, way too hard to be Alice in Wonderland, one of my favourite stories. Not quite sure if this is for me. It's very busy, and just so ridiculous. The book is not very long so I'll try to finish it.

A whimsical wonder of a read, playful and full of interesting words and dialogue. As enjoyable as it was to read a little at a time, I could just as easily set it down. And I have. And its back at the library unfinished. Another reader might really enjoy this though!
