About 25% of the way through. Can't stop reading, though seems a bit heavyhanded at times.

Ok, I've seen a few recommendations for this on the kindle page lately, so I'm giving it a try. I'm just not seeing it as a great book. Sorry. There's no depth to the characters for me. I know that they are squirrels and other animals, but look at "the plague dogs", or even "the wind in the willows". This is an ok story line, but it's just falling flat to me. I need great characters to bring it to life for me.

A fascinating fable-adventure that reminds one a bit of Watership Down. Set in New York, it's a tale of one squirrel's struggle to save the world he knows, with the help of numerous (and unlikely) allies that he meets and who help him along the way. There is nothing cute or cuddly about this story. Often frightening and sometimes grim, this is a story that has far more depth than initially meets the eye.
