This book is a series of contradictions- the action moves at a glacial pace, but it is still interesting; the wording is thick with detail but easy to read and engaging.

It's hard to jump to this dense but insanely vivid book after reading the simple writing style in The Catcher in the Rye, but both books are great, if completely different in matters of style.

I can't tell where this book is headed; knowing Cormac McCarthy, the ending might not be very happy, but I still want to read it all the way through.

The town in this book is called McAnally Flats. Huh huh huh.

Suttree is in the spring of his third year living in utmost poverty. Every chapter tells a different story about him; every story is well worth reading.

Suttree has just returned from a long and misguided time spent with a family of roving fishermen, and he has finally returned to Knoxville to find that many people he knew died over the winter. Cormac McCarthy certainly isn't pulling any punches.

I'm not sure what book I like more: this, or The Road. The writing and story present in both is excellent and unique.

I'm almost to the end of this book now. The only way this book could possibly disappoint me is if the ending was in any way drastically different from the rest of the book.

Current at-work book; comparisons to Faulkner are well warranted.
