Jen Congratulations! Hurrah for reachable goals!

message 2: by Capsguy (new)

Capsguy Haha, many thanks:D

message 3: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine wait you read more than a book a day?

message 4: by Capsguy (new)

Capsguy It'd average out to be about that, yes. Although my pace in the final third/quarter of the year until the past few weeks really slackened off.

I was trying to get through a lot of the 'essentials' of literature, especially shorter works. Furthermore, the list includes novellas and the odd short story here and there. A lot of Japanese literature (of what I'm focusing on now) is shorter than your average Western classic.

That and I have a lot of spare time, especially now (redoing my 3 month holiday in Japan, same as last winter)

Jasmine well you are making the rest of us look bad. but it also makes you awesome, so it probably evens out.

message 6: by Capsguy (new)

Capsguy My original 'aim' was to read 200 books, I never fathomed that I'd read this much. Although, about halfway through the year I realised that putting a goal of a set amount to read for literature is almost redundant and can be quite dangerous. I don't want to forget what I've read, you know?

message 7: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine totally, but you always forget some of them I feel like.

message 8: by Capsguy (new)

Capsguy Of course, our brains aren't perfect.

message 9: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine That's kind of the positive of a site like this, you can pool memories when you forget something.

message 10: by Capsguy (new)

Capsguy Exactly!!!
