This is one of my all-time favorites, I've read it at least 7 times. Written in third person rather than first person like Deighton's past books (this is part of the series about the British spy, Bernard Samson). This books leaves us with a better understanding of all the characters (especially Fiona, Bernard's wife). It's about the KGB, spies, love life and family life and the decisions and sacrifices they make. It includes everything! It's a great story to curl up to before bed and it won't bore you one bit, but actually leave you hungry to read more and more!
