this is a great book and a should read for those interested in political philosophy and the direction the global society is heading. that said, I don't really like Francis Fukuyama's politics. It's really more the classic case of immersing yourself within a system in order to fight it more efficiently. He makes good points, and honestly, he can be quite persuasive at times. The book is also quite exhaustive in detail, so you will learn a lot about current and recent US and world affairs.

I've read parts of this book, enough to understand where our society's current web of discipline, punishment, surveillance, etc. comes from as well as enough to get a hint as to where it might go.
