This book is Hilarious! If you like Broadway and don't mind listing to basically the rambling or as I like to call them scribbles of a very gay man, you should go out and get this book and read it. But, if that isn't your cup of tea you will hate this book. This book is written by a sub pianists who works on Broadway and his movement away from being a sub and to a conductor his dream job. It is also about him and his personal life around his work too. Written a bit like a journal as something for therapy a lot of what is written is stuff that he wants to say, but can't say out loud or fixing problems from him opening his mouth. It is very funny book that I really enjoyed. Ellen is a newly wed, married to her best friends older brother, who has the perfect life that she is happy with. Then she runs into an ex who never got a chance for complete closure. Then as her husband makes waves in their perfect life, wanting to move closer to his picture perfect family and have her give up her career and such. The book is about Ellen caught between the two things she wants, her husband or the ex who had potential and lost something with it ending.

I wanted to love this book, it had potential. But it just didn't reach what I felt it wanted to or was trying for. You know at the start of the book where you a just getting the surface of the characters and you know there is more to them, but you don't know it all yet, that is how I felt about the characters the whole time. I felt there was just something more that we were just about to find out or needed to know, but then we never found it out. The ending was kind of anticlimactic too. The other three books by this author are kind of a trilogy looking at the same situation from different perspectives and expanding on other areas that effected the other characters, so I hope that she does something like that with this one. I just wanted more from this book and feel like there was potential there and it just wasn't quite reached. I liked her past books and I could see parts of them in this book. I do agree that this wasn't her best book though.
I wonder if she is going to do the same type of thing and make this a trilogy or something. I felt like through most of the book we were scratching the surface of the characters and there was something else there we just didn't know yet, but we never got there or found out what we were missing.
