This book encouraged me in my marriage and parenting. I particularly liked her clarity in addressing which ideas were biblical commands, based on biblical principles, or just suggestions from another wife/mother from her own experience. It is easy to blur that line, and I think she handled tough topics with integrity.

Everybody I tell about this book responds negatively. I think maybe the title or premise comes off as self-righteous, but it isn't. The author is not a Christian, or a religious man in any way as he embarks on this journey. He genuinely seeks to live out the letter of the law (sometimes the heart of the law) with often hilarious results.
I got this book out of the library, and William turned his nose up at it, then he took it on an 8 hour car ride. As his longsuffering wife drove, he sat in the passenger seat, snickering, sometimes gaffawing out loud. Maddening!

At first I struggled to get into this book-- the language was contrived and a fly kept biting my ankles. Once I became involved in the story I thoroughly enjoyed it as it became increasingly outrageous, with stranger spelling.

After reading Mr. Brown Can Moo for the 105th time today, I deemed it Worthy of a goodreads (my wannabe blog) review. In the time I have spent reading Mr. Brown, I could have read War and Peace.

Caleb loves Mr. Brown. In typical boy style he loves sounds (not real good about putting them together into words, but he can boom right along with Brown).

This book is significant because it has impacted my life on various levels. In addition to saving me from War and Peace, it allowed me once again to enjoy Dr. Seuss. In elementary school I appointed myself head of the library club. I was a nerd (I was also founder of the aforementioned club). During recess, we shelved. Shelving Dr. Seuss is frustrating, all of the books were the same size and shape and required alphabetical acrobatics (okay, not really, but they were annoying). But shelving Mr. Brown opened me up to the wonders of THE FOOT BOOK and the Lorax. This book, however, is far and away my favorite and most palatable of Seuss's books.

(Speaking of palatable, Caleb ate the spine off of our board book-- in a 'rash and pleasure loving moment' he gave his favorite book a taste.)

Also, more significant yet, this little gem has deconstructed the way I look at sounds. When it rains (which has been often recently) I no longer think pitter pitter pat, but "dibble, dibble, dop; dibble, dibble, dibble, dibble, dop dop dop."

Unworthy of note: Mr. Brown reminds me of Mr. Noodle from Sesame Street.
