Hello, my name is Russell Rowland, and I'm the author of two novels, In Open Spaces and The Watershed Years, both of which take place on a ranch in eastern Montana. I live in Billings, Montana, where I teach writing and consult with budding novelists.

My latest novel, The Watershed Years, is a sequel to the first, In Open Spaces. My first novel made the San Francisco Chronicle's bestseller list, and got a starred review in Publisher's Weekly. They're both set on a ranch in Southeastern Montana, where my great grandparents were homesteaders.

I loved this movie...Ben Kingsley continues to make incredibly risky choices despite the fact that he could easily coast. Sexy Beast, Mrs. Harris, and now this alcoholic hitman who's about to lose his job because of his drinking. I'm not a huge Tea Leoni fan, but I thought her manic energy fit this role, too. Great flick.

Jesus, what a jerk (Gibson, not Heath, obviously). This really is sad. Like others have said, Ledger obviously had the chops to become huge, and could have taken the easy road with star-building roles, but instead challenged himself. I thought he was great in Knight's Tale, too. But Brokeback was brilliant. He nailed the taciturn, stoic cowboy.
