So i'm disappointed. One look at my list and you'll see i do quite like that writer - and i like her from both the story and style point of views. Her books are usually clever, easy to read - without being too easy - and, you know, i just like her.
Well... For one, it seems that this book is never-ending. It's kind of boring. It's long. It's repetitive. Oh my gAWd it's repetitive. It's slow - now, i agree that slow can be a very good thing, except not here. It spells everything out: most of her (sub-)chapters end on a variation of "as (s)he would soon find out, (s)he was wrong."
The problem is her characters are well defined and real enough that you grow attached to them - and boy do you have time to grow attached to them, so i kind of feel guilty for wanting to put the book down because it seems it's just not going anywhere. And then i resent George for making me feel guilty, because that's just not the feeling i want my books to induce in me. I feel i treat them too well for that.
The other problem is she got me used to much better.
