A collection of short stories, many of which leave one laughing out loud. My favorite, perhaps, was The Rejection. In this bit, a young toddler is not accepted into a posh, well-to-do pre-school and he and his wealthy family are quickly placed on the Black List when it becomes clear that the child-in-question will have no future and, worse, his parents can no longer hold their heads high among their scrutinizing social circle. Aside from the last chapter, where the author describes his extended visit with the Kenyan side of his family, I didn't find this memoir had much to offer that hasn't already been covered by a variety of multi-ethnic authors. Still, it was reassuring to learn that the Democratic nominee for President of the United States has had a cultured upbringing, one that will hopefully serve his presidency well where foreign affairs are concerned. ]]>
