I liked this book probably the best of the ones I've read so far. I found it less stressful than previous ones, but still exciting and twisty. By the end of the book lots of things have been turned on their heads.

New things are revealed about Tavi. He spends time as Legionaire instead of a Cursor in this book. Lots of his past is revealed. New enemies come and old enemies are put into battle. Gives you a perspective on Roman government you may not have had before.

Another good book in the series. Tavi is two years older and living in the capital as the First Lord's page. He's bullied by other fury powered kids, but also has friends of his own. Almost had a Harry Potter feel to it. How come bullies always have two stupid henchmen?

The book constantly rode the edge of how much jeopardy I could stand, but I couldn't totally stop reading it.

A good fantasy epic. It is very dense and most authors would have felt any one plot line would have been plenty. There were a number of times I felt the book had to be almost to the climax, but the pages told me there was a long way to go.

Pokemon and Roman Legions. That was the inspiration and it is hard to get out of your head, though the connection is tenuous at best.

This book was a major disappointment. I've been reading a lot of Dan Kennedy lately, especially the No B.S. series, but this book was the worst.

First it isn't really written by Kennedy. It is a collection of essays by his students on direct marketing. But even these essays don't give you the practical meat his other books do.

I enjoyed this book a great deal. I love her style for plot. She doesn't drag out what is going to happen next. If it seems like the obvious thing to happen, it just happens and quickly. If there is a surprise, then that happens naturally and is explored to the depth it should

There were a number of times I felt, "Hey she can't be doing that now, there's not enough book left."

So the story is rich.

The characters are well done, but not super deep. Mostly they just deal with tragedy and don't wallow in it like a lot of other books. They are interesting and active and have secrets. She doesn't drag a character around because she created them either. If it makes more sense for a character to run away from an upcoming problem, even though it takes them out of the action, they do. That's refreshing.

It wasn't until I got to the end that I thought there must be a sequel. I had no idea it was part of a series.
