Mister Pip is an excellent story. It started slowly, but the second half of the book truly made it very worthwhile. It has an interesting depth to it. Its reflections on community, race, ethics and religion are excellent. The importance of storytelling is brought home, how stories shared can change lives. I've discovered that I have an affinity for stories about the art of storytelling.

Rachel, great to hear from you. I'm glad to hear you're enjoy GLPPPS. Yes, a good read often keeps us from the tasks at hand. I've been busy with work, my house, hubby, dogs, and sewing. Also my 25 year old son just started boot camp for the US Marine Corps, but that's a whole other story. Cheers, Karen

This was an okay book but nothing much to write home about. A visit with a few characters. It's about an adopted girl finding herself and her history. I didn't really like how she treated her adopted parents.

I enjoyed this book and my visit with Dallas's characters. It is "a good read." Dallas is a skilled author and keeps you well entertained with all the stories within the story. She develops her characters well and ties up her endings on a postive note. I'm a quilter and that also made the book enjoyable as the women in it quilt together and form bonds through their sewing. You really felt the cold of the Colorado mountains. Janet, thanks for sharing this feel good book with me.
