His prediction about amazon was actually pretty good - amazon improved exactly the things Seth proposed to get here, even skipping some of the middle-men: just before you wrote your review, they switched to print-on-demand.
Also, they stopped being an online bookstores which changed the whole game - assumptions were made based on being a bookstore, not an online Wal-Mart.
And amazon changed all these things exactly for the same reason Godin put forward: it could not be profitable in the then current setup.
