The only Hemingway book that actually strikes me as depressing, it's a hard read to get through, and was obviously written from a very personal place.

Speaking of place, there's an incredible sense of place here, to the point where you find yourself on the beach, trying to sun your skin as brown as you possibly can before jumping into the salt water.
