My bedroom growing up was small and nondescript. My parents both grew up very poor and the idea of decorating a child's bedroom made no sense to them. The furniture at one point was all painted white and I had a Garfield comforter and curtains. Most of my room was taken up by something my parents scrimped and saved to buy for me and the item I still consider the best gift ever...a Barbie dreamhouse.

When I was a teenager, however, they let us do our rooms however we wished. Two of my walls were painted green and the other two were white and blue wide horizontal stripes. And every wall was COVERED in posters.
