Before I begin, I would like to say that reading this must be one of those stupid things you tell yourself you shouldn't do, but I'm interested to see what goes on in the book that chased away fans. I know how it ends. I get the idea, but I

Deb Caletti
“It starts so young, and I'm angry about that. The garbage we're taught. About love, about what's "romantic." Look at so many of the so-called romantic figures in books and movies. Do we ever stop and think how many of them would cause serious and drastic unhappiness after The End? Why are sick and dangerous personality types so often shown a passionate and tragic and something to be longed for when those are the very ones you should run for your life from? Think about it. Heathcliff. Romeo. Don Juan. Jay Gatsby. Rochester. Mr. Darcy. From the rigid control freak in The Sound of Music to all the bad boys some woman goes running to the airport to catch in the last minute of every romantic comedy. She should let him leave. Your time is so valuable, and look at these guys--depressive and moody and violent and immature and self-centered. And what about the big daddy of them all, Prince Charming? What was his secret life? We dont know anything about him, other then he looks good and comes to the rescue.”
Deb Caletti, The Secret Life of Prince Charming

John Scalzi
“Here's a quick rule of thumb: Don't annoy science fiction writers. These are people who destroy entire planets before lunch. Think of what they'll do to you.”
John Scalzi

Martin Luther King Jr.
“There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.”
Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches

Some people say, “Never let them see you cry.” I say, if you’re so mad
“Some people say, “Never let them see you cry.” I say, if you’re so mad you could just cry, then cry. It terrifies everyone.”
Tina Fey, Bossypants

Carlos Ruiz Zafón
“Literature, at least good literature, is science tempered with the blood of art. Like architecture or music.”
Carlos Ruiz Zafón, The Angel's Game

Description: Before I get to the actual story, I should say this is not quite Hunger Games fan fiction. I needed to practice using third person present tense because I plan on using it for a future novel. Inspired by a book reviewer I like, I decided to try and make the killing-kids-scenario, well, make sense. I’m probably going to fail, but at least I tried. I will also do very little research since this is a vomit draft I punched out for practice. You will also not find any of the Hunger Games characters in here, but this is totally not original enough to make money off of. It's still the exact same plot. Almost. I’m sharing it with you because I’m a crazy writer who wants to share. Steal it, and I will summon some dark force to invade your nightmares and devour your pitiful dreams. Cthulhu seems popular, but I’ve always been partial to Lucifer myself. He’s more into mind games, less into the rend and tear. If you like it, don’t be a stranger. Share it, tell me you want to have it’s babies, whatever. Just don’t be quiet. No one likes a lurker.
