This delightful story is perfect. Lin has woven a Chinese story around Chinese style fairy tales and the result is magic. I adore the simplicity of the story and the fact that all ages can discover different morals to learn from. There is no chapter out of place or weak to the plot. The small tales and fables fit like a jigsaw puzzle into the greater story of our main character Minli.

I was personally touched by the wisdom of Happiness as a choice. We are what we choose to be, and it made me take a look at my own life in a newer perspective. This in itself is a good sign of a worthwhile book to me.
