I read this book because I had the pleasure of reading Trudy Brasure's first novel, A Heart for Milton. I still love the author's first book more than this one because I liked the ending in that one better.

This book is well written, but frustrating at times to read because Esmeralda put up with her lover's abuse for so long. I could not believe she spent 7 years on this man. I do believe that he truly loved her, but he was selfish and controlling.
