"Strong outing as always from Mr. Sedaris. Very funny, and it was nice to see him getting a little pensive in the last section. Recommended.

Mixed feelings on this book. I thought the basic plan it laid out was solid and I've already had some help from using it, but I also felt like it repeated itself a lot and kind of rambled on with personal stories a little too much. I was also not exactly thrilled with the attitude it had about medication. But overall I did think it had some very helpful things to say and I did get something out of it.(less)

Ok, so getting the whole Harry Potter thing now. I was starting to with the second one but now I really do. This book was so fun to read! And I'm already sad that I'm about halfway through all of them now. I feel like I'm really starting to get to know the characters and this book definitely had me on the edge of my seat in spots. Fabulous. (less)

Well, I thought this book was kind of overrated. It was pretty funny, and definitely had interesting characters, but I was expecting it to be better based on everyone going on about it. And I don't really see David Sedaris comparisons being fair--is everyone who's funny, gay, and a child of the 60's/70's David Sedaris? Still worth a read though, and it was cool to know the places he was talking about in Northampton. (less)

Well this was one of those books that I felt obligated to have read as an English major. It was dense and took me a whole month to read but I think it was worth it. The use of language was often beautiful and the characters were certainly well-developed and memorable, but I'm knocking off a star for long rambly tangents that didn't really go anywhere. (less)

Ok, ok, so I read it just to see what the big deal was and I gotta admit it did manage to suck me in some, but now that more time has passed since I read it I've realized I don't care much about what happens to the characters and don't really feel the need to read the other ones. I can definitely see what people mean about it being like bad fanfic most of the time, but it managed to be compelling in spots anyway somehow. And it scares me how much I could identify with Bella.
