Kaitie, does that bother you? I didn't know she had an english literature degree, but even then, it makes no difference. In fact, it makes things even more ridiculous. Degree or not, I still heavily dislike her writing, and considering the way things have been going lately in reference to Breaking Dawn, that'll probably never change.

The points on justification for Bella and Edward still have a lot of holes in them, though. Speaking as someone who is deeply in love, it's always easy to see when something is borderline obsessive and creepy, not that my husband and I ever really run into that. Edward and Bella have it all the time, I mean, which of you would really love it if you found out a man you've only known for less than a year has actually been watching you sleep for several months? I don't care how in love they are, that's always at least a little creepy. The are also several moments when you notice how unhealthy their relationship is in their dependency. A lot of your life revolves around your lover, but being nothing, literally nothing without them isn't right at all. Love inspires one to do greater things, to be a greater person for your lover, not to cling like you might die if they leave you.
As for Bella being boring only because we see it through her POV, I don't really think that justifies it. If anything, we should be able to see how intricate her thoughts are as a person, but instead we see a lot of spite towards her "friends", her parents, and nothing but admiration for beautiful vampires. Later there's the added-on obsession with becoming a vampire as well. Even the detail of her initially being reluctant to marry Edward is selfish in my opinion. If that were me, and I was so horrified of marriage, I'd be much more careful to not hurt the feelings of the one I love. Bella's reaction is more like, "Marriage, ew, never!" Which in itself makes no sense whatsoever, because marriage, compared to sharing eternity together is really nothing. It can be implied that she believes that eventually Edward will be bored of her and decide to leave her, which would be easier if they're not married, or that she'll get bored of Edward and leave him, which again, easier without marriage. Other than that, it's illogical. I know illogical fears exist, but for hers to be that strong, it just looks like a cheap attempt at conflict on the author's part. There's a lot more I'd like to say, but that might take up a whole page.

Oh, just in case any of you are interested, on livejournal.com I have a community, i_hate_twilight. I post reviews and interviews that are quite amusing every so often, including a link to here. It's aggressively named, but you don't have to actually hate it to join. It's just another location for discussion, really.
