This account is both heart breaking and inspirational at the same time. I had tears streaming down my cheeks beginning at the dedication page and on and off throughout the rest of the book. Immaculee tells her story of survival during the Rwandan Holocaust. And she survives because she turns her life over to God. Time and time again, she prays to God, trusts in Him, listens for Him, has faith that He will hear her and bless her, relies on Him to help her forgive and to love. And God is with her and she is His daughter. The miracle is, that we each can have God in our lives, we can all truly become his children. Just as with the Hunger Games, this booked hooked me from the beginning. There were still the themes of friendship, loyalty, and survival, but the theme of rebellion overtook all the rest. I definitely will be reading the final book in the trilogy when it comes out.
