This was a fun, cozy mystery. The protagonist uses heavy sarcasm throughout the book, and that got a little draining. Other than that, I enjoyed reading the book.

Ariana made a comment on Riannon’s review of Shadows
"LOL! I want to hear some of the annoying made up slang. :o) "
Ariana and 1 other person liked Riannon's review of Shadows:
Shadows by Robin McKinley
" I haven't hated anything else by Robin McKinley, but this book was really bad. It's told in first person, which is unfortunate, since the main character is pretty boring. No charisma, no wit, probably even more boring than any real teenager could... " Read more of this review »
Eat and Run by Scott Jurek
" I really could relate to Scott Jurek, when he wrote about running for the love of running, with childlike joy at the experience. I've never run an ultra, but have completed 2 full marathons and 16 halfs. The way he wrote about running was inspirin... " Read more of this review »

“For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.”
Sam Levenson

“Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just like people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey ... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.”
Jenkin Lloyd Jones
