A stunning book! When Daniel Sempere's father takes him to the Cemetery of Lost and Forgotten Books, little does he know the impact it will have on the rest of his life. He delves into a mystery of love, horror, violence, and passion. My dad is reading it and says it is so good he can't put it down! He only reads maybe one fiction book a year! It is THAT good! The characters are so real, the story so twisted, and the writing is superb. A very good read!!

I loved the first book in this series and was not disappointed in this second. Eugenides is theiving again, this time his prize is the Queen of neighboring kingdom, Attolia. He is tricky, but she is a worthy opponent that can match him trick for trick.

Two parts of a four/five part story that was never finished because the author died in a concentration camp in 1942. She chronicles the invasion of Paris and France's capitulation to Germany. She was also part of those fleeing the German regime and ultimately became a victim of Nazi brutality. The story is beautifully written--a masterpiece of detail and description. Nemirovsky contrasts reactions of Parisians while describing the furor of evacuation and occupation. Her personal story is as interesting and tragic as the stories she weaves in this book. An excellent read!

A non-fiction account of living on a farm in Iowa during the Depression. Some very interesting tidbits on life back in that age, something of what my grandparents probably experienced (I have a new respect!). No dustbowls or famines, but a humorous and insightful look at building character and learning responsibility through hard work and frugality at a time when 'convenience' was unheard of.

As a porcelain rabbit, Edward Tulane does not know how to love. When he is lost at sea and separated from his young owner, he embarks on the journey of a lifetime that will teach him a lot about feelings and most importantly, what it means to love. Great illustrations and a very quick, easy read story for young kids.

Brown is good at weaving fact with fiction, but not at suspension of belief in this political and scientific thriller. A huge discovery made by NASA turns out to be a hoax and all the people who discover the truth must fight for their lives against an dangerous unknown killer. Great suspense, but totally unrealistic last minute "saves".

Take off the blinders with this read! Levitt shows just how duped Americans really are by using economic data to prove the disparity between what we think is moral and what we actually do. He draws parallels between sumo wrestlers and school teachers, real estate agents and the Ku Klux Klan, and more to show that correlations exist where no one would ever think and how those correlations influence the way we live. There is a hidden side to everything and that is very freaky!!!!
