There was quite a bit of craft that went into this book. The premise is fascinating. And yet. I couldn't get past the explicit sex and vulgar terminology to enjoy the heart of the story. I appreciate the themes and ideas, and man am I a sucker for romance, but this fell short of that. I felt like Claire and Henry never developed as full characters. I love Shannon Hale's storytelling. Her writing is beautifully crafted (don't miss out on any of her YA novels). Forest Born enchanted me just as much as The Goose Girl.
