"I think the very first book ever that made me cry. (I didn't care too much for Old Yeller but Old Dan and Little Ann...man I was bawling.)

"I am partial to this work as it was the first bit of Orwell I had read as a kid and I was blown away. First time I had ever encountered anything of its nature (outside of the True Story about the 3 Little Pigs, which had a similar effect on me.)

"Without a doubt, superb and haunting. My only criticism was that at times the characters and their actions got lost in the powerful and much more needed description. Seriously, does anyone actually remember that much of the story?

"Intense story with a very "Aussie" feel. The way everything pans out...I can't describe it...it's quite predictable having interacted with enough Australian writers in my day. But good strong characters and credible story line.

"Funny witty inventive extension of the original. More obvious political overtones (vs. the very subtle critique of the Gold Standard seen in the Wizard of Oz), lively lovable characters.
