Wombat! 1st complaint, Diary of a bad Wombat is not on this site. Sucks! But, at the moment, our ratings are 100% the same! I knew there was more than just chicken hearts between us!

Again this was one that I read in school, but for whatever reason, I enjoyed it more than Jane Eyer. It really had the same type of feel to me, or I am confusing them in my head, but any way, I just remember that I like this book better.

So, I know, I am only giving this book 3 stars. Not that I didn't think that some, even most of it was really good, my dislike starts to form when they are performed. The monologues and stories in this book are well written, they are heartwarming, funny, devastating, real and emotional. Some rip your heart out, some make you laugh because we have all done what ever it was. The problem with performance of this piece is that when some people start to say these words for a crowd, it becomes more about look at me say the word C***! I am talking about va-jay-jay! Instead of giving the feeling of taking back control of these words, this language, and women's bodies, it comes out like &quot;watch me be filthy! Isn't that empowering&quot; No, it isn't. It doesn't demistify the vagina, it makes it frightening, and the representation comes across as not something to take home to mother.
<br/>All in all, a great read. I would say read it, don't see it. Perform it but only if you can keep it real.

I agree with you. Phineas was this old soul, free spirit, and the narrator being so rooted in the mundane did cause and was responsible for what happened to him. Phineas was a person who had a chance to be truly happy, and the narrator couldn't deal with it. At least that is how I felt about it, and I am pretty sure it was high school for me too.
