The first book in the series is excellent. Panem is the country that exists after America is destroyed by nuclear war and other things like communism and a new order is established. Panem is broken down into 13 districts which are known for producing different commodities. A hundred years before the story begins, District 13 rebelled and were competely annhialated. And ever since, the Capitol, to show that they are in total control have instituted the Hunger Games. Every year one boy and one girl are chosen from each district to fight each other to the death. Katniss Everdeen is a poor girl from District 12, coal country. She is not chosen, but her sister's name is called and she goes in her stead. A very imaginitive book, characters are not wholly bad or good.

I really liked this book. The parts in the labyrinth were suspenseful because you didn't know what was around the next corner. Some surprising plot twists involving Luke. That's all I'm gonna say.
