<about>I've always loved reading and always harbored dreams of becoming a writer. The first books I remember reading were Matt Christopher's baseball books for children; Miracle at the Plate and The Catcher with the Glass Arm are two that I remember. Another series that captivated me as a child was the Tripod Trilogy and it's prequel written by John Christopher (Samuel Youd).

In high school and college, reading took a back seat to other pursuits, but I quickly returned after graduation. I read mostly fiction, but often find myself led to non-fiction by the novels I read: Ken Follett's Jackdaws leads to Stephen Ambrose's D-Day or Ken Follet's World Without End leads to Barbara Tuchman's A Distant Mirror.</about>
