This is a highly pretentious, overly self-conscious, over-studied play that I really resent having had to read. I don't care for it at all. AT ALL. Like, to the degree that the play, just sitting on my self, actually irritates me.

This book, wow. Exceptional. Tough to read, very slow going, but powerful ideas. I think I pretty much worship Eve Sedgwick.

The only drawback for me is that I have not read/studied Billy Budd, which this book focuses on quite a bit. It made me want to read it, though!

I didn't realize until this course that I actually love Henry James. :) His stories are pretty incredible. "The Beast in the Jungle" in my favorite.

Kate, we read this in White American Masculinities with Pollak. What did you like about it? I'm incredibly curious. Not that I disliked it by any means; it just wasn't a 5star-er for me... :)
